「ゴミ収集者のメロディー」

宮城県仙台市にて、1970年代から使用されている、ゴミ収集車のメロディーを収録しました。
流れている曲名は「草競馬」。
カセットテープで数十年使用していたそうで、音がすり減りメロディーが変化してしまいました。
今はその音を機械に録音し、使用しているそうで、いつまでも残しておきたいメロディーです。

日本には戦後から普及したとされる、石焼きイモを売り歩く車があります。
2010年代最後の12月もこうやってどこからともなく音が聴こえてきます。
近くを通るバイクの音やハイブリット車の音も、あとどれくらいの間聞くことができるのでしょうか。

私が２歳か３歳頃に母親と歌を歌っていたカセットテープです。
この時の記憶はありませんが、何となく部屋の色や匂いが想像できます。
今、あえてカセットテープに声を吹き込んで、誰かに送るものいいかも知れませんね。

「台風21号チェービー」

2018年9月4日猛烈な台風21号が日本列島を襲いました。
宮城県仙台市内にある小さな公園の一角で録音しました。
録音機には１０キロの鉄アレイを装備しても飛ばされるくらいの猛烈な雨風でしたが、
そんな台風も御構い無しに虫たちは生命のアピールをしていました。
また、この音源は、坂本龍一さんからも評価していただきました。

September 4, 2018
A fierce typhoon No. 21 hit the Japanese archipelago.
Recorded at a corner of a small park in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.
Even though the recorder was equipped with a 10-kg iron array,
it was so severe that it was blown away.
In spite of such a typhoon, insects were appealing for life.
This sound source was also evaluated by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

「占冠のツツドリとエゾハルゼミ」

6月中旬、北海道占冠村に遅い春がやってきました。
ツツドリが鳴き終えると、バトンタッチしたかのようにエゾハルゼミが鳴き始めます。
そんな時の流れを記録しました。
時々、キツネがこちらを覗き込み、リスが木の上から実を落とします。
遠くで微かにアオバトも鳴いています。

「大般若転読会」

山形県山形市山寺にある宝珠山・立石寺。
毎年1月17日、本堂において、大般若祈祷法要が行われます。
こちらは、その法要の中の大般若転読会の模様です。
室内気温０度以下の場所で行われるこの祈祷は約１時間に渡り、
お坊さん達が経典を床に叩きつける音は圧巻です。
こちらのフィールドレコーディングは、坂本龍一氏のラジオ、
RADIO SAKAMOTOでもオンエアされ、絶賛されました。

3.11東日本大震災後の2018年5月25日現在も稼働しています。
正午に「恋は水色」、17：00に「赤とんぼ」が流れ、 時間を教えてくれます。

「CAT ISLAND BEACH」

「猫島の浜辺」

宮城県石巻市からフェリーでおよそ３０分。 田代島、通称猫島があります。
ここの浜辺は、砂浜になる前のまだ石の浜で、 波打つ度にコロコロと心地よい音を奏でます。
まるで脳をマッサージしてもらっているかのようなその音は、
とてもリラックスできるサウンドスケープとしてそこに存在します。
太古の昔、まだ海が出来たての頃は、このような岩や石が沢山あったのでしょう。
やがて波に砕かれて砂浜に。
そんな地球の原点に近いようなものがここにはあります。

「御積島」

山形県酒田市飛島からさらに南下したところに、女人禁制の無人島があります。
断崖絶壁のため、少しでも波が高くなると上陸は不可能で、
１年を通しても、波の穏やかな5月、6月頃の２ヶ月ほどしか上陸のチャンスがありません。
また、観光地ではないので、地元の漁師にお願いして船を出してもらう以外に方法はありません。
その島に洞窟があり、壁は七色に染まっていました。
波の音、水滴の音、ウミネコの音、三重奏を御楽しみください。
この音は坂本龍一さんも絶賛し、ラジオでオンエアしていただきました。

Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture.

50年以上前と思われるオープンリールテープの中に、
おそらく1968年7月1日と思われるNHKラジオニュースの模様が収録されていました。
地震のニュースや、JRになる前の国鉄時代の内容、
核拡散条約調印式、 沖縄返還前夜などが伝えられています。

宮古島北部にあるとある繁華街の夜を歩きながら録音。
確かにこの瞬間、そこには様々なドラマが存在しました。
私の住んでいる仙台や東京の繁華街ではあまり外までカラオケの音は聴こえてきません。
それは開放的な宮古島ならでは、なのかも知れません。
歌が上手い下手という視点ではなく、いかに音を楽しんでいるかという視点で。
